This is a box written by award winner David Cox that would be perfect for ages 4-10 because of how it could open the child's eyes to the different cultures of the world.  Ayu and the Perfect Moon is about a story set in Bali and it's told by the older Ayu, but she tells the story her younger self and talks about loving processions, dancers in masks, and giant puppets. But what she liked most of all was looking at the pictures of her mother when she was a little girl. Ayu began dancing the legong dance and kept practicing every night. One time the prince of the village even told her that one day she'd be dancing during a full moon for the village. Then one day Ayu's mother dressed her in a beautiful dancer's outfit that was read and gold. The music began to play and she danced as the full moon rose above the palms trees. This book has won the Ruth Schwartz award which is when children's books have been recognized for their artistic excellence in Canadian children's literature. This would be a good book for the 5-9 age group. Roses Sing on New Snow is about Maylin a young Chinese girl living in ChinaTown. She is the cook at her fathers restaurant but never seems to get the credit she deserves. Instead her father gives credit to her two lazy brothers for all of the work she does. One day they get word that the governor of South China is coming to visit the city they live in so her father asks her to spare no expense when preparing a dish for the governor. This is a nursery rhyme that could be read to ages 1-6 and even further because it is such a classic story and nursery rhyme.   Three Blind Mice is about three mice who go on a journey that stars off with them just wishing to have some fun. So they left with a comb as their luggage and tried to find a nice place to stay. So they ended up finding a field to sleep in instead. This ended up with the three mice cold and swollen so they decided to leave and find somewhere else. They were in the search of food because they were starving so they headed to a farm.   The cover of New Kid by Jerry Craft  The graphic novel New Kid written by Jerry Craft is about Jordan Banks a seventh grader who is navigating the challenges that come with going to a prestigious private school and experiencing a culture shock. Once Jordan starts at this school he quickly realizes that he is one of the few students of color in his entire grade which presents him with a different learning environment than he is used to. As the year progresses, we see Jordan start to adapt to the private school environment like he does when riding the bus through different parts of the city. He has a hard time learning how to balance both sides of his life, his old school and friends vs his new school and new friends. Once he starts making friends in his new school he becomes reluctant with introducing his two friend groups to each other but he eventually brings them together after some encouraging words from his grandfather.
